• GTS receives Gold for the School Games Mark

  Great Torrington School have been awarded Gold for this academic year for the School Games Mark. The SGM contains 5 outcomes schools must achieve to obtain Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum.

   

  These outcomes are as follows:

   

  Outcome 1: To maintain and grow school engagement in the School Games and their delivery of 60 active minutes (please note there are new CMO guidelines for SEND daily activity).

   

  Outcome 2: To create positive experiences by ensuring physical activity and competition provision is designed to reflect the motivation, competence and confidence of young people and has clear intent.

   

  Outcome 3: To have a clear focus on secondary schools and transition points (Yr.3 and Yr.7/8).

   

  Outcome 4: To create positive experiences that support the character development of young people, capitalising on Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games by empowering young people to lead the design, delivery and promotion of physical activity and/or competition in their school and local area.

   

  Outcome 5: To advocate to key stakeholders how the School Games makes a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people, including supporting schools to engage and educate parents.

   

  Great Torrington School is a proud support of the School Games and its values and will continue to give ALL pupils the opportunity to participate in sports and competition.

  

• Year 5 Taster Day

  Great Torrington School are delighted to offer Year 5 pupils the opportunity to spend a day experiencing life at GTS.

   

  Our Year 5 Day is Friday 8th July 2022.

   

  Pupils will engage in a range of activities, culminating with an afternoon of sports where we welcome parents/carers to observe and meet with our staff.

  

• Year 11 invite to join the Great Torrington School alumni network

  Year 11 we would like to invite you to join the Great Torrington School alumni network.

   

  Alumni just means former students - a network to help you as you move through your early life after school, and beyond. We are being helped by a national charity called Future First to find and reconnect with former students that have left over the years.

   

  One of the biggest and most important parts of our school network is you!

   

  We want to keep in touch with you - and be here for you after you leave - offering opportunities to build confidence, skills and your CV. You’ll receive a few emails a year sharing news and opportunities to get involved. Check out this video to see why former students around the country are joining their old school or college’s alumni network.

  It takes two minutes to sign up, just, and make sure to use your own email address, not your school/college email.
