How We Use your Data

Looking after the personal data of our pupils, parents, staff, visitors, employees, applicants and members of the public has always been extremely important to GTS. We aim to be as transparent as possible about how we collect, and use, personal data. Our relevant policies and Privacy Notices are below.

Most of the personal data we collect is covered under the lawful basis of Public Task, Legal Obligation or Contract. However, some elements also require consent. Our parental consent form is also below, along with the supporting documentation.

During Year 9 we have to register our learners with HM Government to obtain a ULN (Unique Learners Number) in order to enter them for examinations. To obtain this ULN we have to share pupil data, although this is covered by the Education Act and our own Privacy Notice (above) we are also obliged to share their Privacy Notice with you. This can be found by clicking on the link below, on the Exams page of our Website and on the Data Protection noticeboard in school.

Accessing your Information

Under data protection laws you are entitled to request a copy of the personal data which GTS hold about you. If you wish to request your personal data, please read our Subject Access Request procedure before completing the Subject Access Request form, both can be found below. Your identity will also need to be validated before we can process your request. The completed SAR form will need to be sent to dpo@gts.devon.sch.uk or submitted via the main school reception.

We have one calendar month in which to provide a response to your request, which may be extended in certain circumstances. To meet this time period, and to ensure you receive only the information you’ve requested, please provide as much detail as possible about the information you require.

Freedom of Information

We recognise the rights of the public to request information held by us under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and are committed to responding to these requests in a professional, lawful and timely manner.

We wish to uphold the principles of openness and transparency across our organisation and strive to make as much information as possible available to the public through our Freedom of Information Policy and Publication Scheme, linked below:

If you wish to obtain information which is not currently published, you can make a request by sending the completed form to dpo@gts.devon.sch.uk or submitting it via the main school reception.
