  • Online Learning

    Mon 04 Jan 2021

We will no longer be using Show My Homework / Satchel One for setting online learning when pupils cannot attend school. From Tuesday 5th January GTS staff and pupils will be using Microsoft OneNote Class Notebooks.

For pupils to find their Class Notebooks, follow these instructions:

    Go to office.com

Sign in with the pupil’s school email address and school password

Click on the ‘One Note’ tab on the left hand side of the screen

    Click on ‘Class Notebooks’

Click on the appropriate Class Notebook

Click on the pupil’s name on the left hand side of the screen

Click on the ‘Classwork’ or ‘Class Notes’ tab where the work will be clearly labelled

Here is also a quick video to show you how to access Class Notebooks.

Pupils should follow their normal timetable when learning online at home. For example, if a pupil has English on their timetable for period 3 on a Tuesday, then at 11am on Tuesday, your child should access their English Class Notebook and complete the work. Their class teacher will be available during that timetabled time to provide any help, support and feedback. Teachers can be contacted via email.

When pupils type into a document on Class Notebook, the teacher can see the work being completed live. Class Notebook also saves automatically. There is no need for pupils to email work separately to teachers unless directly asked to do so. Teachers can write directly onto the pupil’s document on Class Notebook so feedback is clearly visible.

If a student needs to submit a file (such as a picture), they can do this within their Class Notebook by selecting the "Insert" option at the top of the screen, then selecting the appropriate option from the menu (ie File or Picture).

When pupils return to school, we shall continue to use Show My Homework / Satchel One to set homework.

If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

If you require any technical support please contact our fantastic ICT Support Team via help@gts.devon.sch.uk
