On the 29th November 2016 the school was inspected by two Ofsted Inspectors. They evaluated Great Torrington School as a ‘Good’ school overall.
The inspectors reported that:
"The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection."
"You have made a number of significant changes to the curriculum, not least the introduction of the Thursday afternoon ‘enrichment and intervention’ programme which pupils were most enthusiastic about. They appreciate the range of opportunities and the level of challenge they face, for example when coding as part of the computing course."
On the 7th and 8th October 2014 Ofsted Inspectors visited our Mathematics department for a subject survey and inspection. They evaluated that the overall effectiveness of mathematics is good at Great Torrington School.
"You and your senior team have succeeded in developing a culture of learning throughout the school. As a result, the members of the mathematics team, who are all subject specialists, are receptive to new ideas, flexible in their approach and keen to innovate. Where necessary, prompt and robust action is taken to tackle any instances of weaker teaching."
