  • GCSE Results 2021

    Thu 12 Aug 2021

Pupils at Great Torrington are celebrating their individual success in their GCSEs today. As a cohort they have always been a fantastic year group and results have reflected all their hard work over the past five years.

The past 18 months has been incredibly tough for the pupils, and they have achieved so much despite the challenges. Not only have they gained a fantastic set of grades that will allow them to pursue their chosen college or career paths, the challenges of Covid have created resilient and independent young people who will be well prepared for the future. They have built new skills working remotely that will transfer into the future world of work.

They should all be extremely proud of their results, the grades awarded were based on hard evidence gained over a significant period and range of assessments. Every grade produced reflects the pupil’s abilities and were arrived at following a robust and rigorous process.

The staff at GTS wish the pupils every success in the future and look forward to seeing them all again at the Prom in September. We would also like to thank the Parents/Carers who have not only supported their young people throughout but also the school.

  • Covid Testing on the return to school

    Mon 09 Aug 2021

In line with current government guidance we have been asked to test all pupils for COVID-19 upon their return to school in September, as we have done previously. These tests with be carried out in our testing centre and will be supervised by trained staff, the pupils will carry out their own LFT (Lateral Flow Test) under guidance. These tests are voluntary, and as such parental consent is required. The pupil must also consent, and can opt out on the day if necessary.

If your child is due to move up to GTS in September, or has recently joined / transferred to GTS, meaning we do not have the required consent; please read the information and complete / return the consent form, available here if you are happy for your child to be tested at GTS. Completed consent forms can either be scanned / emailed to C19Consent@gts.devon.sch.uk or posted to the school / handed in marked FAO Mr J.Buss
