The transition from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone in a child's educational journey, and we recognise how important it is to ensure this process is as smooth and supportive as possible.

At GTS, we are committed to easing pupils into this new phase by providing a carefully structured transition programme. This includes dedicated transition days, opportunities to meet key staff, and tailored support to help pupils feel confident and prepared.

We work closely with local primary schools to share important information and ensure continuity in learning and wellbeing. By creating a welcoming and nurturing environment from the outset, we aim to help every pupil settle in quickly, build positive relationships, and thrive in their new school community.

Year 6 Transition Camp and School - Based Transition 

Monday 29^th June – Thursday 2^nd July 2026

Monday 29^th June & Tuesday 30^th June:    

Resolution and Endeavour (Group A) go to the Ultimate Adventure Centre (stay one night).

Discovery and Endurance (Group B) school-based transition.

Wednesday 1^st July & Thursday 2^nd July:

Discovery and Endurance (Group B) go to the Ultimate Adventure Centre (stay one night).

Resolution and Endeavour (Group A) school-based transition.

The cost of the camp including all food and activities is £110.00.

 You can pay for camp in 1 of 2 ways:

1. Split the payment £60.00 deposit + £50.00 to make up the final balance.

Deposit of £60.00 is required by Wednesday 6th May, and the final balance of £50.00 paid by Friday 5^th June 2026.

      2.Pay in full by Friday 1^st May 2026.

Payment is to be made to the Finance Office over the phone – 01805 623531. Please note: the Finance Office is closed over the school holidays.  For any questions please contact the Finance Office via Finance@gts.devon.sch.uk

If you have an existing child in the school, you may pay through IRIS ParentMail through that child’s account. 

Not all of year 6 choose to go to camp. Those who choose not to attend camp can come to GTS for four days of school-based transition.

After the Easter holidays, you will receive notification of which House your child has been allocated to and further information about Transition Week.

Year 5 Open Day – Friday 19^th June 2026

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our prospective Year 5 pupils and invite you to attend our Year 5 Open Day.  The day will provide an opportunity for pupils to become familiar with our caring, successful school and staff, and give them a taste of what GTS has to offer. 

Please complete and return the online pupil registration form by clicking the link below or scanning the QR code to help us provide a safe and enjoyable day for your child and to give us contact details in case we need to contact you during the day. If you are unable to complete the form online, please contact reception (reception@gts.devon.sch.uk) for a paper copy. Please note bookings end on Monday 15^th June 2026 at 5pm.
