Year 8 Design and Technology
We are currently studying Electronics in the form of ‘The Steady Hand Game’ project. A great place to look at resources for this project are in the following links on the technologystudent.com website

Steady hand game explained: https://technologystudent.com/elec1/thyris2.htm

The main electronic component in the game is the Thyristor. Use the link to learn about it’s use

Year 9 Design and Technology
We are currently studying Electronics with the aim of learning basic electronic principles through the creation of a colour LED thermometer.

You can use the following worksheet to investigate different components and their circuit symbols by looking through the electronics section of  https://technologystudent.com

Components investigation worksheet: https://technologystudent.com/pdfs/elec1.pdf

Use the following links to investigate two important components in this project

Year 10 GCSE Design Technology
Over the next few weeks, we shall be looking at electronic control. We shall focus on using PICAXE Editor 6 (free download) to develop control programmes.

In addition we will be improving our understanding and use of TechSoft 2D design.

Year 11 GCSE Design Technology
Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on completing Section A (Investigating the task) and Section B (Design Brief and Specification) of the NEA. If you have completed these, you will be in a good position to start to generate some initial ideas.

Reference materials is on the shared drive. Additional guidance is available on:
