Year 7 Connections Challenge – Food Technology
Due to the on-going restrictions imposed by Covid, food practical lessons have temporarily been suspended. Over the next few weeks, we shall be looking at electronics. We shall focus on component parts and building simple circuits.

To consolidate understanding we will be producing a simple ‘Steady Hand Game’ with supporting graphics based on a celebration event of your choice.

Year 8 – Food Technology
Over the next few weeks, we will be investigating and developing our understanding of food hygiene, food contamination and the role of the environmental health officer.

Year 9 – Food Technology
Over the next few weeks, we will be investigating and developing our understanding of nutrician and in particularly adopting a balanced diet. We will be looking at the benefits and the sources of food that make up a balanced diet. This work build on our understanding of the eat well guide.

Year 10 - Catering
Over the next few weeks, you need to refer to your booklets for unit 1 – The structure of the hospitality and catering industry. The focus will be identifying and being able to explain the difference between 5 different establishments – Hotels, Bed and Breakfast, Fast Food, Michelin star Restaurants etc.

 

Year 11 - Catering
Over the next few weeks, you need to refer to your booklets for unit 2 – Understanding how Hospitality and Catering provisions operate. The focus will be to explain how a kitchen operates and the different roles and equipment used.
