Year 5 Taster Day

Posted on: 20/07/2018

During the summer term, all Year 5 children from around the area were invited to Great Torrington School to allow them to experience a day at secondary school.  They were welcomed by Mr Bloodworth, Mrs Whiterod and our Year 7 Transition Leaders.  Children followed a GTS-style learning day where they engaged in a number of experiences including historic battles, learning how to cook, creating decorative watercolour artwork and stage combat moves.  During the afternoon, with friends old and new, they enjoyed the sunshine with a number of PE activities organised by our PE staff and Sports Leaders.

We are hugely proud of our school and are always happy to welcome visitors. We hope that many of you will be able to take up the opportunity to visit us again in September for our Annual Open Evening for prospective pupils and their parents. This year the event will be held on Thursday 20th September from 6.00 p.m. –  8.00 p.m.  There will be an opportunity to hear from the Headteacher at the beginning of the evening, followed by the freedom to tour the school and talk with staff and pupils who will be happy to respond to any request or query you may have. The evening always attracts many of our eager students to come in and showcase their school. They are wonderful ambassadors and they are willing to tell you as much as they can.

We would also encourage you to visit us during the day, where you will meet a member of Senior Leadership Team and join a tour around the school to see it in action. At the end of the tour you will be able to have a chat with our young Transition Leaders. This year Open Morning Tours will be held every morning for the week, commencing on Monday 24th September 2018, from 9.00am – 10.30am.

If the dates or times are not convenient for you, please contact us on 01805 623 531 or email to arrange an alternative time.

We look forward to welcoming you.
