Year 10 pupils had a fantastic week of work experience, with a huge range of local and national employers. Pupils independently sourced their placements and contacted their employer.  At school through personal development lessons in 3Rs, pupils have developed their skills in CV writing, completing job application forms.  Great Torrington School received some excellent feedback from the employers and that our pupils were a real credit to the school and conducted themselves professionally and integrity.

The whole process is preparation for working life and is a huge learning curve but one that we believe will give them good foundations to build upon.  The quality of this year’s placements has once again been outstanding and our pupils have been very lucky to have these opportunities.  We would truly like to thank employers for the continued support.”

‘Alisha has gained confidence, It may not have been exactly what Alisha wants to do in the future, but perhaps has given her an insight of what working life will be like’ – Parent

‘I’ve been really impressed with Ollie. He’s shown an excellent attitude, is keen to listen and learn, and has demonstrated a natural flair for writing.’ – Andy Keeble, North Devon Gazette

‘I’m a lot more confident with new people and I am ok with blood now, I was able to watch and enjoy how the operations are done’ – Abby

‘Sadie fully immersed herself on her placement and she has done this and has impressed herself with her self-confidence and ability’ - Pupil Coach

‘I fell that I have grown in confidence this week, I was able to communicate with all of the people worked with. I gained a greater understanding of the kind of work that was involved’ - Shannon
