The Parent Forum

The Parent Forum at Great Torrington School is a group of parents, representing parents, run by parents with the support of the school. It is an opportunity for parents to come together, share ideas, and put forward their views to the Headteacher and Governing body of the school.
The most important factors in improving schools are good teaching and strong leadership. The biggest factor influencing the success of a child is the parents. Involving parents in school life brings these two forces together to improve our school.

The Aims of the Group

  • To give parents a voice and increase their active involvement in decision-making, fostering a culture of ownership and participation.

  • To develop a partnership between the school and parents/carers in order to support and promote the pupils’ learning and bring about change.

  • The Parent Forum has an advisory and consultative role. The governing body remains the decision maker and provides strategic leadership.
