On the 22nd of March we were lucky enough to have BLESMA in school.  This charity supports limbless veterans in Britain.

We were given a talk by Simon Harmer who lost both of his legs in Afghanistan after stepping on to an IED.  He was nearly killed but has been lucky enough to be supported by BLESMA.

He gave a speech and took part in a question and answer session.  We learned his legs cost £62,000 and he spoke to us about his physical and emotional traumas and how the charity have helped him to come to terms with his life changing injuries.

Simon has not let the injuries get him down and he loves open water swimming and recently swam the River Dart.  This is the second year of welcoming Blesma into our school and we are proud of our association with them.

We hope to raise some money for BLESMA in the future.
