Library

Welcome to the Great Torrington School Library. Open 8 to 4 each day for quiet reading and study.

The Library is at the centre of the school and since reading for pleasure is vital to learning we always offer the latest books for you to enjoy.  Ask Mrs Suzanne Fawcitt and Mrs Ruth Ward for book recommendations plus check what’s new and available with Eclipse.Net

With comprehensive support from Devon School Library Services our books are carefully selected by staff and pupils to fully support the curriculum and pastoral needs of all of our students. There are new titles arriving all of the time and requests for books are easily accommodated

We are the home of Reading Club, offering paired reading with community volunteers & pupils to help students who want to practice and improve their reading skills.  It is an airy and comfortable place so we welcome those who show a strong desire to work quietly and use the facilities with respect.  Classes from all subjects use our Library daily and we encourage and reward Year 7 with the use of Renaissance Learning, to improve literacy and foster a lifelong enjoyment of reading and learning; taking book quizzes and winning prizes.
